In October 2005 Mythic Entertainment is proud to celebrate its tenth anniversary of creating cutting edge online multiplayer entertainment. Formed in October 1995 by Rob Denton and Mark Jacobs, Mythic is most well known for Dark Age of Camelot. There were many more games developed by the company before the launch of Camelot in October 2001, however. The origins of the company go back even further than 1995. Mythic was created with the merger of two early online game developers, Adventures Unlimited Software Inc. (AUSI) and Interesting Systems Inc. (ISI).

AUSI was founded by Mythic's CEO and President, Mark Jacobs who started designing and programming text-based multiplayer roleplaying games in the mid 1980's. He is best known for creating the pioneering game Dragon's Gate, a text-based multi user role-playing game that started in 1996 and was available on a number of commercial online services such as GeNie.

ISI was co-founded in 1990 by Rob Denton, now the company COO. In the early 1990's, ISI created a text-based multi user roleplaying game named Tempest (subsequently renamed Darkness Falls) that was available via dial-up in the Washington DC area.

In the last ten years Mythic has created many online games both independently and with various partners including Kesmai Corp, Engage Games Online, Viacom New Media, Abandon Entertainment, Centropolis Entertainment, EA, France Telecom, Vivendi Universal, and America Online.

This work ultimately lead to the creation of Dark Age of Camelot in 2001, the fantasy MMORPG based on Arthurian, Celtic and Nordic legends. Camelot features Realm vs. Realm™ combat, Mythic's unique implementation of PvP play. Since its launch, over one million players in seven languages all over the world have explored the online world that Mythic created.

When its first game, Castles II Online, was released in 1996, Mythic had nine employees. Now the company employs over 170 designers, programmers and artists - making Mythic one of the leading independent online game developers, and building Dark Age of Camelot into one of the most successful MMORPG franchises in the world.

Many members of that same talented team are now hard at work on Mythic's new MMORPG based on the Warhammer fantasy world created by Games Workshop. It is scheduled for release in 2007.
Our team released the 6th expansion pack for Dark Age of Camelot - Darkness Rising on October 11, 2005, just after our 4 year anniversary.

We look forward to many more years of innovation and invite you to join us in the celebration of our 10th anniversary by entering the 10-4-10 sweepstakes at www.mythicentertainment.com/10-4-10/
